The iPhones 13 Will Be a Bit Thicker With a Larger Camera Block

The iPhones 13

The next iPhone 13 will be a thread thicker than the current models and will have a larger and thicker camera block, especially in the Pro models but, thanks also to these changes, the individual lenses will be less prominent than the iPhone 12 range.

This indication has been circulating for several weeks and comes from different sources, so the new technical schemes obtained by MacRumors align and confirm what has emerged so far. Both iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will be 7.57mm thick, a modest increase of only 0.17mm compared to the 7.4mm of the iPhone 12, so most users will notice little or nothing in everyday life, except comparing the terminals of the two generations side by side.

Instead, the changes in the camera block will be more visible. iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro now have a 1.5 to 1.7mm thick camera block, while the individual lenses visibly protrude from the surface. Instead, according to the technical screens from which the renderings were created that we report from MacRumors, iPhone 13 will have a 2.51mm thick camera block, while in iPhone 13 Pro it will be 3.65mm thick. But even as the thickness of the block increases, it seems that uniformity and design will benefit because in the iPhone 13 the individual lenses will be less protruding and more flush.

Undoubtedly the most visible change is the one expected for the size of the camera block. In the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, it measures approximately 28 x 30 mm, while in the iPhone 13 a square block of 29 x 29 mm is expected, slightly shifted by one millimeter towards the top of the terminal.

In the iPhone 12 Pro, the camera block is smaller than that of the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the latter being the only model with a stabilized sensor and a better telephoto lens. Instead in the iPhone 13 Pro, the camera block will have thickness and dimensions more similar to those of the iPhone 13 Pro, for this reason, it is once again expected that the stabilized sensors and the best lenses will no longer be exclusive of the iPhone 13 Pro Max, but shared by the two next-generation Pro models. Good news for users who want a top photo and video performance in a more compact and handy terminal.

The iPhones 13 are expected by September with a smaller notch, new processor, with support for the fastest 5G mmWave connection in more countries, with at least Pro models equipped with ProMotion screens with up to 120Hz refresh and much more. Everything you need to know about the new iPhone 12 is in this in-depth analysis, instead of everything that has emerged so far on the next iPhone 13 is summarized here.
